Rep. Hurd: Ask ICE to Grant a Bond for Maria
For delivery to: Rep. Will Hurd
Created by DREAM Activist
I write to ask that you work with ICE to secure the release of Maria Maribel Garcia (A#216-114-196) from the South Texas Detention Center. Maria has lived in Wimberley, Texas for over 10 years now. She is the mother of two, and a large part of the Wimberley community. Maria is not a danger to the community, nor is she a flight risk. I ask that you urge ICE to grant a bond for Maria so she can be reunited with her family.
On Saturday, February 24th, Maria was taken into custody by the Hays County Sheriff’s office after she was told about an outstanding warrant stemming from an argument she had with her sister. Maria was told she would be released the same day, on her own recognizance however, instead Sheriff Cutler transferred her to immigration custody.
Maria, and her family have been victims of years of abuse at the hands of her husband. They have received counseling and other support services, never did they think they would find themselves in this situation. I urge you to take immediate action and ask ICE to grant a bond for Maria Maribel Garcia (A#216-114-196).
